Welcome to my blog #2, I hope you find this blog an area to relax, sit back, chill and just read some fun, interesting and important blogs that will keep you stress-free and motivated. I hope you enjoy this blog!!

Hello readers!

have you ever stumbled upon a situation where you wanted to articulate something you want to do, launch, try, experience etc, but you couldnt express yourself and persuade the person you are seeking permission from to let you do something of your choice, there is a simple solution!- pitch your idea and express yourself in the best way possible, but you may ask- Rhythm, how do you even pitch an idea?

Introduction:

When pitching an idea, remember the quote by Einstein.

"If you cannot explain it simply, you haven't understood it well."

have you struggled with convincing your parents of something you want or

something you want to do or go somewhere etc? Yep, I feel you all. I had the same issue of

pitching my idea and persuading my parents to allow me to do something I wished to do. Over the years, I have learned a lot; my first-hand experience being my teacher. What I have learned can be condensed into three pieces of advice.

The Sorting Hat

Brilliant research from Stanford university done by Cantor et al. demonstrated that we all use "person prototypes" to categorize strangers in the first moments of interaction. This pattern matching is so firmly hardwired into human psychology that only conscious discipline can counteract it. We unconsciously give points to those we can quickly recognize as having creative qualities while deducting points from those difficult to judge or those who fit negative stereotypes.

Much like the sorting hat in Harry Potter, we sort people into categories or"houses" based on traits and not talents. Therefore, when approaching your pitch, keep your virtues in mind. Any negative stereotypes that you portray unknowingly will you kill your pitch before it even begins. For example, I have been part of my school student council for five years, and in every interview with the school board, I have always managed to be elected. I always charm the committee by not focusing on what I will do but on my great qualities!

The Showrunner

Showrunners mix creative thought and enthusiasm with business acumen, much like they do in Hollywood. When proposing concepts to the other person, showrunners have a lot of charm, wit, and charisma but they also have the technical know-how to persuade the other person.

Ron Popeil, a renoweed kitchen-gadget inventor and pitchman, is an example of a showrunner. Popeil is a mixed design master and ringmaster, with his hair perfectly coiffed and attractive. Malcolm Gladwell, a famous Canadian journalist, praised Popeil tremendously, describing how Popeil combines entertainment flair with commercial wisdom as he excitedly displays the product as a breakthrough that will transform your life. In short, this method entails being confident and charming. This method is equivalent to answering a question wrongly but confidently. You should be confident enough that the person who asked the question has to recheck if their answer is wrong. Live by the motto, "if you cannot convince them, confuse them."

The Artist

Unlike the showrunners, artists appear to have little or no understanding of, or

even interest in, the pitch details. Furthermore, they control the audience mind, inverting the power disparity. Rather than engaging the catcher in a duet, they enslave the audience to the material and imaginary worlds. While artists are not as polished as showrunners, they are the most imaginative of the three categories. They made up approximately 40% of the successful pitchers I watched. Artists, unlike showrunners, are transparent when they display what they do. Genuineness is what makes the artist credible.

Conclusion

Each of you, with your brilliant ideas, falls into one of these categories. It is up to you to figure out if you are a Sorting Hat, Showrunner, or Artist. So go forth and show the world who you really are!
